Two in a Row – Glenn Hamm 2013 Champion!

One of the better Championship Sundays at Greate Bay, it was mostly sunny, not too cold, but the wind was in play. The Final Four featured the lowest set of handicaps in modern OCAGA Tour history.  Six strokes separated Marc Bohan (9) from Charlie Ranucci and Glen Hamm (15) with Scotty Shaw at 14. There would be little room for error and the match promised a battle to the finish. The greens were lightening fast with breaks to challenge even the most seasoned putters.  After nine Scotty Shaw held the edge, with strokes ahead of Glenn by 1,  and Marc & Charlie by 4.  On number 10, Glenn stayed one behind, Charlie fell off another stroke and Marc cut the lead down to 2.  On 11, Charlie took a snowman hit. Scotty suffered through a triple bogey. Marc  pulled into a tie with Scotty and Glenn took the lead by 1. Number 12, the second hardest hole on the card would be the deciding hole. Disaster struck both Scotty and Marc . The 12th hole, rated second hardest on the course requires a nice drive over a marsh. A drive too far left can find the water and too far right will find the trees.  A nice drive down the middle can still leave a challenging second shot, over the water to an uphill green. Losing balls and a tough putting pin placement can quickly add up to 10!  Ask both Scotty and Marc. Glen pushed up his lead managing a double on 12 and a nice par on 13. Despite a valiant charge by Marc who picked up 9 strokes on the last 5 holes, Glenn Hamm held on to repeat as OCAGA Champion. He beat the best OCAGA had to offer!

In the Hanko Memorial  2 man format, Art Czachorowski and Rich Antczak were an awesome team besting the field by a full 9 strokes posting an 82. Mike Lazarchick and John Beauchner finished a distant 2nd .
