Chabotar Captures Avalon Victory

ATT_1432502375752_20150503_083309-1-1Once again Glen Chabotar showed early season poise taking Avalon by 5 strokes over Marc Bohan, Roger Reed and Don St George. Glen last won in 2010 taking the opener at Sand Barrens.  Brigantine  was captured both in 05 and 09. Twisted Dunes was another early victory in 2005.  The Red Flash golf coach purportedly speaks of Glen when inspiring his young team before a big match. While attending St Francis University, Chabotar was primarily known for academic achievement. However, since on the OCAGA Tour, Glen’s moments of brilliance and his ability to rake in the SCAT money has elevated his athletic appeal. He needed a wheel barrow for all the bucks he won during the 2013 season! If he can only secure a Tour Championship, pundits believe he will be added along side his brother, Kent John, on the list of distinguished St Francis Graduates.

Marc Bohan, 1996 Club Champion, placed a sweet 78 on the Scorecard, low gross score 20150503_083303on the day. Every time Marc finishes 2nd, his loyal fans complain that he is giving up too many strokes to high handicappers. Marc has his share of regular season victories and is not even close to Lazarchick’s number of 2nd place finishes! When he is swinging the club well, he is truly poetry in motion!

Two Time Club Champion Phil Stocker and Marc were captured by the OCAGA News Photographer, discussing their Swing Philosophies at Avalon while waiting to tee off before the last tournament.

Young Roger Reed, OCAGA Rookie, showed off his stuff taking third place in only his second tour tournament. 20150503_114639-1Sporting an impressively low handicap, Roger was throwing darts at the par threes! His signature playing card shows how close he set the standard for closest to the hole!  He took CTP on both #3 and #11.

Don St George delivered a beautiful game to take fourth place on the day. Of course there is much “folklore” about Don slaying dragons during his youth. Some historical documents even speculate and debate the time of his death. Of course we know he is alive and kicking, defying the ravages of time. Pictured  here on the right, Don is doing a new pre- tee off jig, now known20150503_083215-1 as the Don St George Shuffle! Obviously the new moves are working. St George fans want desperately to see Don make the final four!

Scotty Shaw was also impressive finishing 5th on the day. There was considerable concern when the president fell just prior to tee 20150503_085535-1 (1)off. The investigative reported was unable to determine if Scotty was wearing alternative spikes or if there had been an attempt on his life. Questions always arise when conspiracy theorists discuss how many OCAGA presidents have met untimely deaths! Shaw of  course, has been accused of leading the most secretive administration in years. He rarely give press conferences and presidential messages in the OCAGA News Blog are few and far in between. The OCAGA Investigative Reporter in an exclusive interview learned that the President wants to move the tour to the Blue Tees, with one notable exception! When asked about the old guys, he said since he liked Mike O’Brien, OB would be able to play from the front tees.

Andy Swanson, Mike O’Brien,Glenn Hamm, Charlie Ranucci and Rob Juliano rounded out the top ten.
