Hamming it UP!

David & Daddy at Pinelands

David & Daddy at Pinelands

David Hamm was just magnificent at Pinelands, beating his Dad and Don St George by 3 Strokes to take the win. David sent booming drives high into the sky using his 3 wood off the tees and the majority were right down the middle. He broke 90 by placing par on the Scorecard 7 times. This is David’s second tour victory, his first in 2009 at the Sand Barrens.  He played so very well against significant pressure from an impressive trio of opponents, 4 time club champion Dad, low handicapper Marc Bohan and current club champ Michael Lazarchick. Glenn improved as the day got longer to take second place dropping 8 for par. Most impressive however was his recovery on the 14th hole, after a drive that was blasted deep right into the middle of the adjoining fairway. The foursome there were clearly awed as Glenn sent his second shot over the trees and onto the fringe of the par five green! He two putted for an easy Birdie! His 81 was low gross on the day. Hamm’s Beer purportedly announced a new video featuring David and Glenn in a Golf Segment that is expected to compete with the famous baseball clip.

Don St George continued to make an early season statement taking a 3rd place finish. With six dropped for par Don was showing the stuff that at one time had him as one of the lowest handicaps in the league. The St George Volcano Hotel in California, with only the rumor that Don may visit, is selling rooms like hotcakes! Don is in 2nd place for point total after 1/3 of the season putting his fans in a gleeful frenzy.  Don Continues to collect SCAT money and he does very much enjoy that! ♥

Center Photo Champions Wall at Tavern

The Polish American Tavern was finally experiencing the revelry that dominates the neighbor.  Other than the local girl scouts crying girl%20scout%20crying%20fp.JPG with the absence of heartthrob Richie Antczak, the neighborhood was near euphoria watching the tournament unfold.   Five time Champion, the legendary Art Czachorowski,  Mr. President Scotty Shaw and current Tour Champion Michael Lazarchick finished 4th, 5th and 6th.  Fans were crippled with fear in the off season when news of Art’s medical battle hit the airwaves. Choking at the banquet was a bad enough experience for the faithful, but the big “C” tore at their heart strings.  Art’s return to health and moving nearer to his former self have lightened hearts. Needless to say, “Artski Sixski” chants once again rang clarion throughout the day.

Scotty Shaw has been impressive this year, currently in 5th place for overall points. While a small crowd of detractors continues to accuse Shaw of the most secretive administration in OCAGA history, the OCAGA News Investigative Reporter

Heavenly Light?

Heavenly Light?

has uncovered another view of his demeanor found in Poland, an article written by the Felician Sisters , about Scotty. In the article, Shaw’s silence is viewed as his uncompromising ability to view the world with non judgment and his sheer love of humanity. Those gifted with clairvoyance have argued that Scotty often responds to questions with a wry smile, a continence of omnipotent knowing, and a gentleness that radiates as light from his being. The OCAGA Photographer confirmed that this photo obtained from the sisterhood, was not “Photoshopped”. It is real!  WOW!

Little has been scene from the Current Champ this season on the field of play until this current “shadow” revealed itself last Sunday. His supporters at the Tavern remind us that

Shadow of LZ in Phil's Eye

Shadow of LZ in Phil’s Eye

the Doctor started fairly slow last year not starting his charge until May.  Of course, once he took the lead, it was not relinquished.  Phil Stocker, his partner in the Monday Night Leagues sees him best. He named him LZ and helped him break through the final barrier when they defeated three formidable duos to take the 2012 Championship.  The Doctor has often said that his partner give him Inspiration!

Marc Bohan finished 7th displaying some nice putting on fairly slow greens. Marc of course is from perhaps the most accomplished  father/son combo to have ever played the OCAGA Tour. Dr. John Bohan was OCAGA Tour Champion back in 1972. Marc was Champion in 1996. Marc with 60 points is currently in the lead for the Final Four.

SCATS

The big winners were Shaw, St George & Swanson in Handicapped and Marc Bohan in Scratch.
