Scotty Shaw was Stupendous at Greate Bay dashing the hopes of would be contenders and sending a message to the odds makers about Championship Sunday! Scotty put 7 Pars and a Birdie on the Scorecard while delivering an impressive low gross score of 80 in the tournament. With Swanson and Lazarchick fighting it out with Chabotar for a last place finish, the victory, for all intents and purposes, wraps up a placement in the Final Four. Hamm, Bohan and St George (if he plays Sand Barrens) are now officially mathematically out of the reach of 5th place Swanson and Shaw, well ….. he leaves a very faint Glimmer of Hope. Swanson has 92 points. If he won the last tournament and took closest to the pin, an additional 28 points adds up to 120. If Shaw shows up and somehow the tournament draws 16 players he will finish with at least 113. It is not known if there is any truth to the notion that Swanson Vitamins purportedly is offering to transport tour players to the tournament and pay their green fees. The last tournament of the year historically draws a small field. OCAGA hit a low of 9 players in 2014 (last place 15 points)and 11 in for the finale in 2013 (last place 11 points). Yup, Eddie Borillo jumped past St George, Lazarchick and a bunch of retired tour players back in 2002 when he won Avalon and got Closest to the Pin to secure a spot. If Shaw does not play, Eddie is still in the hunt. Everybody below Ed is Mathematically Out.
OF COURSE THERE WAS APRIL 2015. Andy Swanson won with a 92 in April at the Sand Barrens and Scotty Shaw finished 12th with 103!
The Old Farmers Almanac predicted heavy rain on the way to the October 4th tournament, a chance of rain on Sunday, overcast with heavy winds and temperatures well below 70. VEGAS* says the probable cart path only, cold, windy conditions will reduce the field. Lazarchick is doubtful, leaving Monday for Colorado. The investigative reporter purportedly is tracking down Swanson to determine if he will make it to his home course for the finale.

There was some talk within the OCAGA Tour of postponing the tournament one week. If the date is changed to the next Sunday, Shaw will be in Florida and Lazarchick will be in Colorado and the dynamics change. Meanwhile reports from Myrtle Beach say Swanson won the trophy for Low Net on the four courses played with both Shaw and Lazarchick in the field!
LATE FLASH SAND BARRENS CANCELLED – FINAL FOUR SET – NEXT TOURNAMENT IS THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!!!!!!! * VEGAS is a subsideriary of OCAGA News. The OCAGA Investigative Reporter is on his way to the Polish American Tavern to determine if the rumor is true that Shaw has paid Art Czachorowski’s Bar Bill.
