Stephanie Stupendous at Vineyard

From a family of athletic Champion females, Stephanie is making her mark in the Ocean City Amateur Golf Association. She was beautiful. The Vineyard was in beautiful condition. The day was beautiful with enough wind to make the round comfortable. Once again she was in a battle with the oldest active player, Mike O’Brien who steadily played the center of the fairway and tied her on five. But Steph parred the #1 handicap sixth and proceeded to pull away. Dave Kissinger was sending long rockets down the center of fairways with a draw, starting on one. He caught OB on six and became the new challenger on seven. When Steph suffered through a 7, then an 8, on fourteen and fifteen, Dave actually got to within one. The tension in the air was suffocating in both the Champion Club and the Italian Bistro. They both followed with beautiful putts on sixteen and seventeen, generating incredible excitement. On eighteen Dave took his first 7 of the day and he knew he let one go. Stephanie maneuvered through the challenging terrain, sunk her putt and won by two strokes. Placing a net 65 on the scorecard, she took a big step towards the final four. This is her second win on the tour.

Marc Bohan had  Le Petit Café believing he was going to defend his title. A bogey on 2 and another on 7 were surrounded by a string of par. When he dropped a long Birdie Putt from the fringe on 9 he finished the front one over with a gross 38. Lazarchick meanwhile, lost his drive with a bad bounce into the trees on the par 5, fourth. A two stroke penalty for a lost ball, two straight, two wood tops, an errant approach shot and a missed putt all helped him to a devastating 9! With a triple bogey on the difficult fourteen, LZ just barely broke 90. Marc’s magic dissipated on eleven and only a birdie on 17 allowed him to salvage a gross 83. Both lost ground in the race to the final four.

John Larson maintained his lead in the regular season. He posted a gross 88, beating LZ by 1 and Mike Deckard by 2. His net 69 gave him a third place finish, ahead of O’Brien at fourth, by virtue of lower handicap. Me D finished fifth. Unfortunately, Larson Hot Stone Massage Stock took a dip when the OCAGA Investigative Reporter discovered that John may not attribute his success to the meditative benefits of the experience. Supposedly, John believes more in cause and effect science, such as practicing on the driving range. Be assured we will stay abreast of this developing story. At the Irish Pub those who bet early at 100 to 1 that OB would make the final four are licking their chops. On tournament days standing room only is available for late comers and the faithful are taking the current even money bet from VEGAS.

At the Polish American Tavern Stanislaus and Casimir were watching OCAGA Reports on TV. With one tournament left before the finals, the OCAGA statistician was saying John has made the Final Four if he plays Buena Vista! Larson is guaranteed 9 points for a last place finish giving him 114 for the season. Current 5th place Stephanie with a victory at Buena and three points for Closest to the Pin, can only reach 111. Lazarchick, Kissinger and O’Brien however, are all vulnerable if they do not finish well, and Steph does finish in the top 5. Marc Bohan will need the 3 Point Closest to the Pin and a first place finish, coupled with either Kissinger or OB finishing last and Stephanie also not making the top five. At the Café, Pierre announced eliciting rousing cheers, that Marc did win Buena in 2022 and did get CTP for 3 points. However, he cannot catch LZ. Jim Depiano also needs the CTP and a first place finish with the same scenario. All other players are mathematically eliminated, playing for SCATS. Stan and Cas were totally confused. However, they were ecstatic when they heard that 5 Time Champion, a living legend, Art Czachorowski will be playing in the tournament. Also, Bill Finger, aka The Hammer, a Star from the Pinelands Monday Evening League has accepted an invitation to play and may be a new addition to the OCAGA Tour.

In SCATS John Larson was the Big Winner. LZ, Joe and Stephanie also made money.
